FAQS

  • Prior to our first session together, I will send you a welcome email that includes a personalized recurring Zoom link that we will use for all of our sessions together and an informed consent form.

We'll begin our first session by reviewing the informed consent form and addressing any questions you might have before you provide consent for therapy services.

Then, I'll guide our conversation with questions to explore what has brought you to counselling and what changes you're hoping to achieve in your life. It's perfectly okay if you don't have all the answers yet! Also, if there are topics you're not comfortable discussing right away, that's absolutely fine too. Trust and safety take time to build, and you get to decide how much or little detail you want to share as we get to know each other.

Once we have a clear understanding of your goals (whether in the first session or later on), we'll create a plan together to work towards them in counselling.

  • Online sessions with Connected Counselling are conducted through Zoom, a secure telehealth platform.

Prior to our first session together, I will email you a personalized recurring Zoom link that we will use for all of our sessions together.

Here are some things that I do (and recommend to my clients) to get the most out of online sessions:

Create a comfortable environment: This will look different for each person. Here are some examples:

    • Grab a cup of tea or some water

    • Sit on a couch or comfy chair

    • Use a diffuser or light a candle

    • Bring a heated/weighted blanket for your lap

    • Any sensory item of your choosing

    • Pen and paper

Check your tech- test your internet connection to ensure it is stable and familiarize yourself with Zoom if this is your first time using the platform.

Free yourself from distractions- minimize interruptions by turning off notifications, closing unnecessary tabs, and ringers.

Be intentional- just like an in-person session, aim to be present, punctual, attentive and engaged in session.

  • I currently only offer online sessions.

Online counselling therapy has been shown to be just as effective as in-person counselling therapy, although it ultimately comes down to personal preference.

Some individuals find online counselling therapy to be a convenient and comfortable way to engage in therapy, while others may prefer in-person sessions.

  • My usual session schedule is from Tuesday to Friday, with sessions available from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm PST (last session start time).

  • You can book, reschedule, or cancel appointments anytime through Connected Counselling Jane App

  • Generally, weekly sessions are recommended at the beginning to build momentum and make steady progress. As you start to feel more confident and see improvements, we can transition to bi-weekly or monthly sessions.

Ultimately, we'll tailor the schedule to what works best for you.

  • The number of sessions can vary greatly from person to person and depends on what you want to work on. My goal is to make therapy as brief as possible while ensuring you receive everything you need from our sessions.

Each person is unique, and everyone progresses at their own pace. The most important thing is that you feel therapy is beneficial and that you leave each session with something either new, different, positive or healing.

  • 50 minute Individual Counselling - $170

  • I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need. Feel free to inquire about availability during your consultation.

  • Most extended health providers cover sessions with Registered Clinical Counsellors. However, it's important to consult with your provider before booking an appointment to confirm coverage.

Please note, I do not bill insurance providers directly. You will need to pay for the session and then you will be emailed a receipt for services which you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement.

  • The full session fee will be charged for all missed sessions or sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice. Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you and it is difficult to fill your spot on short notice. If I am able to fill your appointment time, you will not be charged for the late cancellation.

  • As you progress towards your goals, you might find that having more time between sessions is beneficial. I regularly check in with you to discuss how counselling is going and to determine the session frequency that feels right for you.

You can pause or stop counselling at any time and for any reason.

When you're ready, simply let me know, and we'll take some time to reflect on and celebrate the progress you've made before saying goodbye or (see you later)!
